One of the greatest advantage of York Hotel is its location.
It is only 5 minute walk to Orchard Road — the top shopping street in Singapore; and the Orchard MRT station is also within the walking distance.
This means endless shopping and dining options if you stay there. For those who are in Singapore for a short time and want to maximize their stay, this is great!
Do not, however, expect the shopping street at the door step. You will have to walk, and there is also steep slope if you walk along Mount Elizabeth to do your shop and dine.
There are mixed reviews about the service of the hotel. As a whole, however, the ratings are reasonably good.
The hotel is very near some popular sites in Singapore, including the best know shopping malls like ION and Ngee Ann City. Public transportation is plentiful for those who want to visit areas that are not reachable on foot.
The rooms are of typical sizes with good bedding, and are clean. The hotel has its own dining services, and for those who are travelling for business are able to use one of the onsite business center and 8 function rooms. There is a fitness center and a pool. For those who are travelling with family, consider asking for a spacious family room.
As a whole, the amenities are average. It is of good value nevertheless, considering the lower room rates as compared to other hotels along Orchard Road.
The prices of the rooms are lower than the top hotels along Orchard Road. In other words, do be realistic in expecting the service and amenities.

This can be more expensive, and definitely offer less variety.Away from the hotel, there are local hawker stalls and eating outlets that offer exciting local delights. They are inexpensive, costing you a few dollars to dine. If you eat in the hotel, it can cost you a few times more.
